“Dear Lord, seriously?”

I had just crashed to the floor in the middle of the night. Dreaming of being a gymnast? More like I was unaware my “King Bed” was actually 2 twin beds which had managed to separate in the night. Naturally I haddddd to roll to the middle in my sleep and hadddd to fall in between the two beds.
Being the naturally graceful human being that I am I clawed at the sides trying to hoist myself up with no success. I had two options… lay here wedged between two beds and never be seen from again or shimmy towards the bottom, crawl underneath the bed and find freedom. The thought of food urging me on I made it out.

So now that you know I’m completelyyyy unsuccessful at sleeping in foreign cities I will say I was pretty successful in beep-bopping around foreign cities… In particular Amsterdam.
The agenda for the day? Flower shop, hunt for some antiques,  go to the Heineken Experience, and hopefully see some Van Gogh.

Found this little gem of a shop while we were wandering through the streets and I decided that I need this print like… yesterday! It’s all of my pinterest dreams come true!!!

Amsterdam is so easy to get around. Best advise? Rent a bike from your hotel, most of them have them complimentary, and head out. Drivers are so conscious of cyclists and you’ll almost always have a bike lane.

The Rijksmuseum in the city center is an absolute must see. It’s on of the National Museums for the Netherlands. It houses paintings from the Dutch masters, a cute cafe and THE most talented musicians are almost always playing in the tunnel that runs through it.

Now for the real reason I love Amsterdam… There is Nutella EVERYWHERE. Nutella muffins, Nutella milkshakes, Nutella waffles… You have literally died and gone to heaven. Well at least I did. Stop in any bakery and order a Nutella muffin as quickly as you can and just know… calories don’t exist in Amsterdam 😉

We tried to wait out the rain to walk to the Van Gogh museum, but given the torrential downpour we decided upon the Heineken Experience as our next move.

Personally I’d rather drink justtttt about anything but beer BUT… it’s an absolutely fascinating tour. They let you do so many hands on things, learn how to pour the perfect beer, see the entire brewing process which included an IMAX type experience where they brew YOU! Highly recommend this!

So whether you’ve been to Amsterdam a million times or not at all, if it’s raining or if it’s the most beautiful day in the world, get out there… GO exploring because the best adventures come from the risks you take! And besides… no one ever writes home about how they stayed in bed and ordered fettuciine  😉
